The Movement
Evaluation.
The essential first session at Performance EDU. Before we prescribe a program, we assess how you actually move — then build from there.
Training without assessment is guessing.
Every body carries its own history — old injuries, compensation patterns, mobility restrictions, strength imbalances. Skip the assessment and you're prescribing a program to a body you don't actually know.
The Movement Evaluation is how we get to know yours. It's a 60-minute professional assessment led by one of our coaches — not a sales call, not a workout. A structured, methodical look at how you move today, what's driving what, and where to build first.
Every EDU Method program starts here. No client trains on our floor without one.
What we screen.
A structured, coach-led movement screen that draws on the same assessment protocols used by pro sports teams and post-rehab clinics — adapted for your body and your goals.
Movement & Injury History
A structured intake covering training history, current activities, past injuries, surgeries, and everything your body has been through. Context shapes programming.
Functional Movement Screen
A systematic look at how your body moves through fundamental patterns — squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, rotate. We identify asymmetries, restrictions, and compensations that shape performance and injury risk.
Mobility & Stability Baseline
Joint-by-joint mobility screen (ankle, hip, thoracic, shoulder) paired with core and joint stability tests. We measure where your body has room to move — and where it needs to control that movement.
Strength & Load Tolerance
Baseline strength assessment across primary movement patterns. What you can load safely today is where your program starts — and where we build from.
Goals & Priorities Conversation
A real conversation about what you're actually trying to accomplish — ski Palisades in February, deadlift bodyweight at 65, return to a sport post-injury. Programming has to serve the goal.
Programming Recommendation
Which of our four training formats fits you best — TrainingEDU, BoardEDU, AthleteEDU, or SquadEDU. And why. No pressure, no upsell — just the coaching recommendation that matches your assessment.
A plan. Not a pitch.
The Movement Evaluation is designed to give you real, actionable output — not a sales presentation.
Movement Profile
A written baseline of how your body moves today — the map we'll be building from.
Prioritized Focus Areas
The two or three things worth addressing first, in the right order — not a wish list of everything.
Program Recommendation
Which of our four training formats matches your body, your goals, and your schedule — with honest reasoning.
Coach Match
A recommended coach based on your background, your goals, and the coaching style that fits you.
The evaluation is the entry point.
The EDU Method is a coach-led, movement-first approach we've refined over 15 years training athletes, post-rehab clients, and active adults across Reno-Tahoe. Three principles guide every session on our floor: Educate. Empower. Elevate.
The Movement Evaluation is where those principles start. Before we can educate you on how your body works, we have to know how yours works today. Before we can empower you to run your own training, we need to hand you a plan that actually fits. Before we can elevate you, we have to know where you're starting from.
One assessment. One plan. Every EDU Method program built from there.
If any of these sound like you.
New to Performance EDU
Every new client starts here. The evaluation is how we learn your body before we build your program.
Coming Out of Physical Therapy
Cleared by your PT but not sure where to go next. The evaluation bridges rehab to real strength — safely.
Athletes Preparing for a Season
Off-season, pre-season, return from injury — the assessment shapes programming that peaks you at the right time.
Active Adults Chasing Longevity
You want to ski Palisades at 60, hike with your grandkids at 70, and lift smart for the next 30 years. The evaluation is where that plan begins.
What to expect.
Come dressed to move — athletic clothing and training shoes. Bring any relevant medical information: recent PT notes, imaging, or surgical history if it applies. If you've got a specific goal in mind — a race, a trip, a season — bring that too.
