Book Movement Evaluation Text (775) 300-3947Performance EDU Fitness in south Reno coaches adults in their 50s, 60s, and beyond who want to stay strong, mobile, and independent. A large share of our clients are active adults, and many have never trained seriously before.
Every program starts with a 60-minute movement evaluation ($125). You leave with a one-page scorecard covering mobility, movement quality, strength, and conditioning, and your program is built from those results. We re-test every 8 to 12 weeks so you can see what is improving.
How to choose a trainer after 50.
Whoever you train with, these are the questions worth asking. Here is how we answer them.
They test before they train
Old injuries, stiff hips, a cranky shoulder. A good coach finds them first. Our evaluation scores mobility out of 36 and movement quality out of 10 before any program is written.
They program for you, not a class
Two people who start the same week get different programs if their scorecards differ. Sessions are 1-on-1 with a coach.
They can handle your history
We share a building with Kime Performance Physical Therapy, and we coordinate with your physical therapist or medical provider when needed.
They hold real credentials
Our coaches hold the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, with more than 100 years of combined coaching experience on one floor.
They measure progress
Same tests, same protocol, every 8 to 12 weeks. Held or improved, test by test, on paper.
Strength and mobility for the long game.
Strength
Squat, hinge, push, pull, and carry patterns loaded progressively to build and keep muscle.
Mobility
Joint-by-joint work on ankles, hips, upper back, and shoulders, targeted to what your screen found.
Balance and single-leg control
The stability that keeps you steady on a trail, a ski run, or a staircase.
Conditioning
Capacity built from a measured baseline, so you get fitter without wrecking your recovery.
TableEDU
Every session ends with coach-assisted stretching and mobility work on the table.

Straight answers.
Is strength training safe for adults over 50?
For most people, yes, when it starts from an honest assessment and progresses gradually. That is why every client at Performance EDU begins with a movement evaluation. If you have a medical condition or recent surgery, check with your doctor first, and we will coordinate with your provider or physical therapist when needed.
What happens during a Performance EDU movement evaluation?
It is a 60-minute, coach-led assessment ($125). We review your training and injury history, screen joint-by-joint mobility (scored out of 36), score movement quality in squat, hinge, lunge, push, pull, and rotate patterns (out of 10), test strength endurance, and set a conditioning baseline on the Ski Erg. You leave with a one-page scorecard and a prioritized plan, and we re-test every 8 to 12 weeks.
I have never really trained before. Is that a problem?
No. Plenty of our clients over 50 are new to structured training. The evaluation meets you where you are, not where a program assumes you should be.
Do you work with adults who have joint pain or old injuries?
Yes. The evaluation starts with your injury and surgery history, and our Bridging the Gap program is built for people coming out of physical therapy or living with ongoing mobility limits. Kime Performance Physical Therapy is in the same building.
How often should I train?
It depends on your goals and your scorecard. Your coach recommends a schedule after the evaluation, and clients choose 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions.
